SHINOGI
The Shinogi series is made by collecting and recycling shavings produced when turning potter's wheels. The shavings are soaked in water, dried to the right degree, and then re-kneaded. The pot is dried in the sun, but during this process sand and dust get mixed in, and these impurities appear on the pot as black dots, sometimes large and sometimes small. This can be resolved by using new clay, but I choose to leave it as it is, to let nature take its course. This work is a bit like a ceramic artist's concept of leaving natural things as they are.
There are two types: a glossy white porcelain with a slight blue tint, made with a tussah ash glaze, and a celadon porcelain with a celadon glaze. Both have rusted edges, which tighten the overall look while also giving them a somewhat rustic feel.
